Windsor Shelter Health
Windsor Shelter Health (WSH) is a partnership comprised of CMHA-WECB, Windsor Regional Hospital, the City of Windsor, and Windsor Shelter Health Associates (physician group). WSH is an integrated, collaborative program providing comprehensive, on-site medical services at emergency shelters and drop-in settings for people experiencing homelessness in Windsor.
WSH delivers equitable, culturally safe, coordinated care through four on-site clinics located within Windsor’s emergency shelter system:
- The United Church of the Downtown Mission
- Homelessness and Housing Help Hub (H4)
- Salvation Army Windsor
- Welcome Centre Shelter for Women and Families
The WSH improves access to healthcare, strengthens continuity of care, reduces avoidable emergency department use, and improves health outcomes, social stability, and quality of life for people who are marginalized, high risk, and underserved.
As of April 2026, there are at least 976 households experiencing homelessness in Windsor, underscoring the urgent need for integrated health and social supports that meet people where they are, including at the point of shelter access and during transitions from hospital and other institutions back to the community.
While operational funding is provided by the Ministry of Health, donations allow WSH to provide additional amenities such as:
- Essential personal items
- Hygiene supplies
- Food & Beverages
