Board of Directors
CMHA Windsor-Essex County’s Board of Directors leads with unwavering commitment and integrity. The Board’s regular Committees include Finance, Governance, and Quality, Risk, and Asset Management.
Our Board is skill-based, comprised of 11-19 proficient voting members and 1 ex-officio/non-voting member (our CEO). Representing diverse community backgrounds, the Board convenes a minimum of eight (8) times annually. Reach us at dlauzon@cmha-wecb.on.ca or further information.
CMHA-WECB is seeking one new member for the Quality Committee and two new members for the Finance, Audit and Risk (FAR) Committee.
Quality Committee: Responsible for providing oversight of the professional and organizational culture of the agency and providing the Board of Directors with an assurance that quality, client safety and continuous quality improvement is being held paramount. Experience with quality improvement systems would be an asset.
Finance, Audit, and Risk (FAR) Committee: Responsible to provide oversight and governance in relation to Financial Management of the agency including the Annual Operating Plan and Capital Plan, the Annual Audit, Risk Management, Compliance, and matters related to Property, Insurance and Investments. Applicants with valid accounting designation are encouraged to apply.
Membership on a standing committee is required for individuals to be considered for a future Board position when a vacancy occurs.
Responsibilities include contributing to achieving strategic directions and monitoring organizational performance. Committee members will be required to attend quarterly meetings or more frequently as circumstances dictate. Meetings of the Committees may be held virtually or any other means which enables all participants to communicate with each other adequately and simultaneously.
The Board of Directors of CMHA-WECB strives to reflect the diversity of Windsor and Essex County both in the ethno-cultural mix and range of skills and experience. In particular, individuals who reflect the growing diversity of our community are encouraged to submit a resumé. Applicants should reside in the Windsor-Essex community.

Leann Sassine

Leann Sassine
Leann was born and raised in Windsor. She graduated from Windsor law in 2015 and was called to the Bar in 2016. She previously completed her MBA from the Odette School of Business in 2011. Leann’s practice has focused primarily on civil litigation and providing legal services to clients seeking wills and power of attorney documents. Leann achieved her Master of Laws from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law in 2021. Leann has been an advocate for the Windsor community for many years. She has previously served as the President of the Brain Injury Association of Windsor & Essex County and volunteered for several local organizations.
Leann is also a dedicated Instructor at the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law and Odette School of Business. She is committed to enhancing the academic and general well-being of students, as is evidenced by her ongoing involvement as a member of the Board of Trustees for a student-led investment fund, a supervisor in a wills clinic for Pro Bono Students Canada and a mentor in the Windsor Legal Practice Simulation. Leann is an advocate for mental health in our society and is honoured to continue to serve her community on the Board of CMHA-WECB.Volunteers Wanted for Standing Committees
