EDUCATION: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Group

This 5-week Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) group is designed for individuals experiencing anxiety and/or depression who want to learn practical tools to improve mood, manage stress, and build healthier thinking and coping patterns.

Participants will learn evidence-based strategies to better understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, while developing skills to support emotional wellness.

Session 1 – Understanding Mood & Setting Goals
• Introduction to the course
• Understanding anxiety and depression
• Setting personal goals for change

Session 2 – Taking Action
• Behavioural activation
• Understanding the change process
• Introduction to graded exposure

Session 3 – Understanding Thoughts
• Planning your graded exposure
• The ABCDE connection (thoughts, feelings, behaviours)
• Identifying and understanding thinking patterns

Session 4 – Coping Skills
• Calming techniques
• Active coping strategies
• Flashcards and imagery
• Responsibility pie and cognitive continuum

Session 5 – Staying Well
• Creating a self-management plan
• Maintaining progress and goals
• Strategies for staying well long-term
