Despite COVID, Generosity Abounds

[Windsor, ON] – When we think of the holiday season, we often think of spending time with friends and family, sharing laughter, and exchanging gifts. But the holidays can also be a difficult time for many. The holidays this year, like so many other events and holidays in 2020, will be different due to COVID. But just because they will be different doesn’t mean the holiday spirit has been diminished.

Bianca Montaleone enlisted the help of dozens of charitable friends who all wanted to teach their children that the holidays were about giving. A supporter of CMHA for many years, Mrs. Montaleone approached CMHA-WECB about supporting the needs of our clients for the upcoming holidays. What started out as sponsoring one family, has grown into a donation drive of sorts with many individuals and local businesses wanting to take part.

If you’d like to participate, CMHA-WECB is accepting donations of toiletries, clothing, toys and gift cards which will be distributed to clients of CMHA via their Community Support Workers. Donations will be accepted until November 30th, and can be arranged by calling Anita at 519-255-7440 ext. 330 or 519-995-5032. (Due to COVID-19 restrictions, donations without an appointment cannot be accepted.)

“At a time when we are all feeling isolated, this is a way of bringing people together in support of our community”, said Kim Willis, Director, Communications & Mental Health Promotion. “We live in such a generous community and the pandemic has not dampened that spirit of giving.”
