CMHA-WECB’s Light the Way Campaign Returns for 2025, Illuminating Hope Through Grief Support

The annual CMHA-WECB Light the Way holiday campaign returns this year, continuing a beloved community tradition that brings light, comfort, and connection to individuals and families coping with loss. Since its launch, the campaign has raised more than $550,000 to support CMHA-WECB’s Bereavement Program—an essential lifeline for those navigating one of life’s most painful and isolating experiences.

The official 2025 campaign launch will take place at Devonshire Mall (Food Court area) on Thursday, November 27 at 10 a.m.

“Grief can change a person’s entire world, yet many feel they have to deal with it in silence. The ongoing support for Light the Way ensures our Bereavement Program remains available when people need it most. This campaign reminds our community that no one has to walk their journey alone,” says Nicole Sbrocca, CEO, CMHA-WECB

Grief, when left unaddressed, can impact every part of a person’s life—emotional well-being, physical health, relationships, and work. CMHA-WECB’s Bereavement Program fills a critical gap by offering free specialized grief support for children, youth, and adults through one-on-one counselling, peer support groups, and educational seminars. These services help people process loss, rebuild connection, and regain hope.

This year’s Light the Way display at Devonshire Mall features five illuminated trees—one white and four green—symbolizing that one in five people will experience a mental health or addictions concern in their lifetime, and that we all play a role in supporting one another. Visitors are invited to donate and hang a star in honour or memory of a loved one, creating a collective tribute that shines throughout the holiday season.

Stocking stuffers—including plush Lulus and Sole Focus Project socks—will be available for purchase at the Devonshire Mall display from November 27–December 7 and online until December 31 at LightTheWayYQG.com.

The 2025 campaign is proudly presented by The Toldo Foundation and generously supported by Petretta Construction, with additional sponsorship from Hogan’s Printing, Made to Shade, TD Bank, Catholic Cemeteries – Diocese of London, MRA, Lester Group, and J. Shilson Professional Corporation.

The campaign also features a highly anticipated online auction from December 1–12, offering unique gift items perfect for holiday giving.
