We know there is a lot of work that still has to be done if we hope to shift the popular view of entrepreneurs from “tireless visionary” to one that allows them to show their vulnerability and ask for help when needed. We hope these studies / research can help us better understand mental health and entrepreneurship and move forward towards this goal.

Going it Alone: The Mental Health and Well-Being of Canada’s Entrepreneurs
It is often said that small business is the backbone of the Canadian economy and that when entrepreneurs succeed, so does Canada. Considering the importance of small and medium-sized businesses to the Canadian economy, the health and well-being of entrepreneurs is a critical public health issue. The study, “Going it Alone: The mental health and well-being of Canada’s entrepreneurs,” aims to enhance our understanding of the mental health experiences of entrepreneurs in Canada.

How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected the mental health of Canadian entrepreneurs? To find out, BDC surveyed 500 entrepreneurs to better understand their ability to cope with the crisis as well as their largest sources of stress and worries.
