CMHA celebrates National Caregiver Day
Apr 4, 2022
Today, CMHA-WECB joins individuals and organizations across the country in celebrating National Caregiver Day.
National Caregiver Day is intended to honour caregivers — the millions of parents, children, siblings, spouses and friends who provide unpaid care to support someone with a diminishing physical ability, a debilitating cognitive condition or a chronic life-limiting illness.
According to Carers Canada, the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the demand for caregivers in Canada, resulting in added strain to their role and impacting their mental health. CMHA-WECB offers several workshops for caregivers, including “From Compassion Fatigue to Compassion Satisfaction”, “Strategies for Families & Caregivers”, and “Achieving Balance: Coping with Stress, Change and Caregiving”. For more information, please contact [email protected].
CMHA Ontario and branches around the province also provide programs and services to support mental wellness, such as Living Life to the Full, BounceBack, counselling, information on stress management, and much more.
