Healthy Workplace Awards Revamped

[Windsor, ON] – Mental health promotion, health and safety, and social responsibility is a new focus of the Healthy Workplace Awards for 2020.

The NEW awards were announced Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 10 a.m. via Facebook Live from CMHA-WECB’s main office.

In an act of collaboration, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) has partnered with the Canadian Mental Health Association, Windsor-Essex County Branch (CMHA-WECB), and Family Services Windsor Essex (FSWE) – both lead partners providing oversight of the awards.

“The WECHU is honoured to continue our collaboration with CMHA-WECB and FSWE through the workplace awards. This new initiative reflects the importance of mental health promotion and wellbeing in our community and the goals within revised public health standards. This partnership will allow us to align our collective resources along the Mental Health promotion framework, jointly released with CMHA-WECB in 2019”, said Nicole Dupuis, Director, Health Promotion, WECHU.

Workplaces are still able to earn Gold, Silver and Bronze awards in the mental health promotion and health and safety categories. The Social Responsibility award will recognize workplaces that have demonstrated a commitment to support the health, safety and well-being of the community in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It also helps promote a positive public image for businesses and workplaces going above and beyond to support the community’s efforts in reducing the spread of COVID-19 while addressing some of the various challenges related to the pandemic.

“We understand that workplaces have faced unprecedented challenges in 2020,” says Dupuis. “The Healthy Workplace awards allow us an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding work that has been undertaken.”

The deadline to submit a nomination is October 15. A Virtual Awards ceremony will be held in November 2020 to celebrate the recipients.
