Y Mind Youth

What is Y Mind Youth?
Y Mind Youth is a mental wellness program for youth between the ages of 18-30 years living with mild-to-moderate anxiety. It is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Self Compassion. The Y Mind Youth program helps youth learn and practice skills to help manage anxiety.

How long is the Y Mind Youth program?
The Y Mind Youth program runs for 7 weeks at a time.

Is there a cost for the Y Mind Youth mental wellness program?
There is absolutely no cost. It is FREE!

Who can sign up for Y Mind Youth?
Youth can sign up for Y Mind Youth through self-referral by contacting [email protected]

What is ACT?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a form of psychotherapy that falls under the category of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). ACT was developed to help individuals create rich and meaningful lives while also effectively handling the challenges that may arise. It focuses on the acceptance of one’s thoughts and feelings rather than attempting to change or control them.

What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness focuses on noticing your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, and surrounding environment. It’s about being in the present moment, while also having an open mind and being non-judgmental.

What is Self-Compassion?
Self-compassion is the practice of extending kindness, understanding, and support to oneself, especially during times of difficulty or suffering. It involves treating oneself with the same warmth and care that one might offer to a loved one in times of struggle and distress.

How would you know if you have mild-to-moderate anxiety?
Mild Anxiety: If you are anxious throughout the day (but not all day), if there are some changes in concentration and sleep, and if you experience stomach aches and muscle tension.

Moderate Anxiety: If you are feeling anxious most of the day, there are changes in your sleep, appetite, and concentration, and you’re feeling panicky, have headaches, and fatigue and you tend to be avoiding things.

How would I know if Y Mind Youth is a good fit for me?
Do you fall within the appropriate age category (18-30 years)?

Do you experience mild-to-moderate anxiety?

Is anxiety your primary concern?

Are you willing to keep your camera on and be an active participant?

Are you willing to participate in a group environment with others who are experiencing similar thoughts/feelings?
