Volunteer Orientation

The CMHA-WECB is committed to improving client-centred care by supporting a culture of openness, trust and integrity. We endeavour to provide leadership in the provision of ethical behaviour by promoting ethics knowledge and skills in decision making throughout the organization. We are committed to conducting all CMHA-WECB’s services and business with the highest ethical standards. The purpose of the Ethics policy is to focus employees in the areas of ethical behaviour, provide guidance for everyday conduct, to help employees recognize and deal with ethical issues, provide mechanisms for employees to report unethical conduct and foster a culture of honesty and accountability. We acknowledge the individual responsibility of employees, volunteers, students, community partners and contractors (all these individuals are considered in the wording of employee for this policy) to act in good faith, exercise due care in all they do, comply with all rules and regulations, comply with professional practice guidelines and proactively promote ethical behaviour. It is important that employees and all others associated with the agency perform their duties in a manner that maintains and enhances the clients’ and the community’s confidence and trust in the integrity of the CMHA-WECB. We make every reasonable effort to ascertain that our working environment will permit provision of services consistent with the organization’s mission, vision and values. We recognize, report and resolve ethical concerns and are committed to ethical decision-making to guide those facing ethical dilemmas and to foster ethical behaviour.
