Information and Referral

This service provides a “no wrong door” to mental health services in assisting individuals by providing information to identify the problem and assisting them in accessing the appropriate services. This service does not preclude individuals accessing mental health and addiction services directly, but will assist those individuals seeking services or referring to them when they are uncertain of the problem and/or the service options available in the community to address their needs.
- Information and referral function to appropriate service within CMHA-WECB or the community for mental health and addiction
- Education
- Assessment services provide timely comprehensive medical psychological and social assessments for individual experiencing mental health issues and requiring access to services. Individuals may then be linked to a wide variety of services to support people and their families within CMHA-WECB or the community.
- Crisis planning/intervention/prevention
- Person centered planning
- Supportive counselling
- Advocacy
Advocacy:
Provides information regarding mental health legislation, rights advice and systems advocacy. Families are also provided with information re: mental illness and family support programs. Act as a liaison with other community programs to resolve issues for clients not receiving case management services.
Hospital Outreach Services:
Provides support and linkage to community mental health services for individuals with mental illness who are in hospital. Discharge planning and community outreach are key aspects of the program.
Information and Referral:
Provides referral assistance and information about community resources, mental health information, and CMHA-WECB services for individuals, caregivers, families and the community.
Eligibility:
Individuals who may or may not be diagnosed with a mental illness living in Essex County who require information, assessment, and possibly intensive case management in the community. Individuals who require follow-up from acute impatient service from hospital. Individuals who may not fit the criteria for intensive case management but require assistance to ensure that they are appropriately linked to community services.

Service Hours
The regular business hours are 8:30 to 4:30 at the agency Monday to Friday. Services are available until 8:00 pm Monday to Thursday by appointment.
