CMHA recognizes International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia

This May 17, CMHA-WECB joins individuals and organizations worldwide to recognize International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOTB).

The 2SLGBTQIA+ community faces a range of mental health challenges due to societal stigma, discrimination, and lack of acceptance. These challenges can include higher rates of depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and suicidal ideation compared to the general population. However, as people around the globe unite to observe a day of solidarity, advocacy, and celebration, it presents an opportunity to raise awareness about the challenges that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals face. These challenges include discrimination, violence, and marginalization.

IDAHOTB is a time to recognize and celebrate the diversity of sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions. It calls for respect, dignity, and equal rights for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Join us and celebrate today as together we can create a more inclusive and compassionate society for all.
