Golfers hit Beach Grove Golf & Country Club Monday with the goal of playing 100 holes and raising $50,000 for local charities.
The marathon round was in celebration of the club’s 100th anniversary this year.
Nine teams of two players each gathered pledges aimed at raising $50,000 in one day on the links.
The money raised Monday will go towards a 2021 fundraising target of $100,000, with those proceeds to be distributed in support of the four pillars of the Beach Grove Centennial Charitable Initiative “Creating a Legacy Campaign.” Pillars include the areas of children, mental health, hospitals and community.
The selected charities include the Windsor Cancer Centre, WE Care for Kids, UHC – Hub of Opportunity (formally known as the Unemployed Help Centre) and Canadian Mental Health Association.
“The 100 holes of golf fundraising event is one way that the club has chosen to give back to our selected charities in celebration of our centennial birthday,” club president Frank Dayus Jr. said.
“The community and Beach Grove membership have been tremendously supportive of this event, and for this we are truly grateful. Together we have surpassed our fundraising expectations for this event.”
The final tally from Monday’s event was not available prior to press deadline.
