Champions call for increased funding for mental health and addictions care

Addictions and Mental Health Ontario (AMHO) and Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario (CMHA Ontario) are joining forces to call on political parties to commit to urgently needed investments in mental health and addictions care.

To help influence the June 7, 2018 provincial election, AMHO has released Where Change Happens, an action plan that calls for new investments in mental health and addiction in the community so Ontarians can access care, when and where they need it the most. (Read highlights of Where Change Happens.)

Meanwhile, more than 5,900 Ontarians have added their name to CMHA Ontario’s petition, which calls for mental health and addictions care to receive equal funding to physical care. Visit erasethedifference.ca and sign the petition.

Join thousands of Ontarians in letting provincial candidates know that it’s time to invest #wherechangehappens and #erasethedifference.

By supporting the AMHO and CMHA Ontario campaigns, you’re helping raise awareness that mental health and addictions services in Ontario remain chronically underfunded compared to other parts of the health system. Without regular and ongoing investment into the system, people coming forward to seek help can end up languishing while they wait for service.
